My art centres on Glasgow, and the everyday experiences of those living in the west of Scotland.
This includes the painting and sketching of the city’s changing industrial landscape, its cultural heritage, and the people – at work and at leisure – who make it unique.
Although some pieces depict Glasgow’s leafier landscapes, most capture the lives of the working class on the streets and in the markets of a bustling city centre. I am always seeking to tell the stories of ordinary people.
My painting technique is instinctive, and commands the use of numerous implements and mediums. This style of mark making reflects the rawness and vitality of Glasgow life.
